the trees greenbelt-thinning part
boughs like uncurling fingers
and branches part aside past red
slatted siding like death
sentence begat tall mass grave
begat mass mourning tree sentinels
stoic as houses hand chiseled paint-
sealed bones and in oregon grape
arms oft-mistaken for holly lies fallow
western meadowlark ribcage and
deep-set eye sockets
serrated leaf-shadowed fea-
thers drip bedraggled flat to vertibrae
flesh shrunk torn over
sunbaked fragile wing bones

it's a wonder the dogs missed it

and oh beneath your knife-
edged leaves i crashed
my bike faulty brakes metal
sliced past thin bark to yellow
core fibers jostle bound lark
by sinew and gravity rattle
branch rolls skull shake
toss onto pave-
ment like tart blood berries
that i love split between
teeth thinnest blue skin before arsenic
filled seeds and they fall after cracked
lark beak from thin boughs and i
land foot crunch ribs
follow soon after

I was trying to read this as normal sentences with concrete meaning . . .I didn't make much sense. Then I started reading it as imagery and emotion and it was much better!
